New Zealand will square off with South Africa in the sixth and final round of the 2021 Rugby Championship in Gold Coast, Australia on October 02.

The All Blacks claimed a 19-17 victory over South Africa’s Springboks in Townsville on Saturday in Townsville, Australia on September 25. 

Therefore, they also claimed the 100th Test in the 100th year to win this year’s Rugby Championship with a late victory.

The most important turnover was that secured by Quinn Tupaea to provide the match-winning penalty goal as New Zealand won the eighteenth edition of the annual southern hemisphere competition.

New Zealand head coach Ian Foster has stated that if teams won five games in the Six Nations it was regarded as a Grand Slam.

This means their second game with South Africa offers a Grand Slam chance for the All Blacks, who have accumulated 24 points from their first five matches in the tournament. 

Foster has now explained that one achievement remains for the All Blacks as they look to complete a double over the reigning world champions.

“For this group to put themselves in that position is a massive credit to [captain] Ardie [Savea] and the men for the way they have been utilised,” Foster said. 

“And the way they are gelling together and working hard. We know to achieve what we want to achieve next week and to get that Grand Slam we are going to have to lift up a couple of cogs.

“We are making strides in the physical side of the game, and we are making some strides in our ability to deal with set-piece pressure and how we go about it.”

The last time South Africa defeated New Zealand was on 15 September 2018.

The Springboks emerged 36-34 winners over the All Blacks in the 2018 Rugby Championship match at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington, New Zealand.
