Man United face tough test at King Power Stadium

Manchester United will face a tough test when they battle Leicester City in a Premier League match at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, 23 December 2017, kick-off at 21h45 CAT.

Leicester will be looking to bounce back to form under coach Claude Puel, having suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of Crystal Palace last weekend, followed by a penalty shootout loss to Manchester City in the quarterfinals of the League Cup in midweek.

Prior to those disappointments, the Foxes had been riding high under their new coach, putting together a run of four successive victories to surge up the standings.

United also come into the game under something of a cloud after they were shocked 2-1 at Bristol City in the League Cup on Wednesday night, while their last Premier League outing was a laboured 2-1 win at West Bromwich Albion last weekend.

However, the Red Devils are set to welcome back influential midfielder Paul Pogba from a three-game suspension. The Frenchman hasn’t lost a Premier League match in 14 months.

Leicester and Man United have met in 88 matches across all competitions. The Red Devils have claimed 44 wins compared to 22 for the Foxes, while 22 matches have been drawn.

The teams’ most recent meeting was a Premier League clash in August 2017 which saw United claim a 2-0 win at Old Trafford, thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini. The Red Devils have won four successive games against the Foxes and put together a seven-match unbeaten run in the rivalry.
